A British satire about hating who you are… to fit in with people who’ll never accept you.
Follow The Colours is a black comedy film that delves into a controversial subject matter. The film takes the audience on a darkly humorous journey, challenging societal norms and expectations. It's a bold and thought-provoking piece that aims to spark conversations and introspection.
Harry, a middle-aged British man of Asian heritage has become obsessed with denying his roots and proving his loyalty to an imagined version of white British identity. Egged on by his imaginary alter ego—“Caucasian Harry”—he sets out on a surreal and increasingly violent crusade to rid the country of what he sees as cultural impurity, armed with a bleach-filled water gun. As his identity crisis spirals into absurdity, Harry targets his own community, revealing the tragic, comic, and deeply ironic consequences of internalised racism and misplaced patriotism.
Told through dark humour, surreal musical numbers, and razor-sharp satire, the film skewers modern British identity, internalised racism, and the performance of belonging—until Harry’s carefully constructed reality begins to collapse.
